# Turn on two-step verification

Two-step verification asks for something only you have, every time you sign in. You can use an authenticator app, a passkey, or both.

## With an authenticator app

1. Open [Security](https://www.osintcat.net/account/security) in your account settings.
2. Choose to turn on two-step verification and scan the code with your app, for example Google Authenticator, Authy or 1Password.
3. Enter the 6-digit code from the app to finish.

## With a passkey

A passkey uses your device's screen lock, such as a fingerprint, face or PIN.

1. Open [Passkeys](https://www.osintcat.net/account/passkeys) and register a passkey on this device.
2. Go to [Security](https://www.osintcat.net/account/security) and add the passkey as a two-step method.

**Add a second method.** If you lose the only device you use for two-step verification, you can't sign in on your own. Adding both an app and a passkey keeps you covered.
